[ 5th Grade HOMEWORK POLICY ]
Homework at a glance:
- Handed out Monday and due on Thursday
- Read and exercise 20-30 minutes each night
- Fun Friday will be awarded to all students who have completed and turned in ALL weekly homework and daily school work, as well as met behavior expectations
- Study Hall will be provided on Friday for any student needed additional time or support to complete work

Each Monday, students will receive their weekly homework* assignment. All homework is due Thursday.
In addition, students will be responsible for 20-30 minutes of independent reading.
In an ever growing technological age, the need to refocus our attention on maintaining healthy lifestyles is very important. This is why we encourage you and your student to spend 20-30 minutes a day enjoying a family-fun activity to help encourage exercise as a daily part of your routine. This isn't a "requirement" and therefore will not be tracked, but we feel it's just as important as daily math and reading assignments. Need some ideas? Play a game of tag or hide-and-seek (indoor/outdoor), take a family walk, or visit your local park together.
*NOTE: Additional homework may be necessary during the year, but will be based on individual teacher discretion.

[ FUN FRIDAY! ]
Every student who completes and turns in their weekly homework, signed planner, and any in-class assignments will be rewarded with an additional 30 minutes of recess. Students who have not completed these assignments will be asked to attend our "Study Hall" period during this time to complete any missing work.
Criteria to attend Fun Friday:
- ALL homework completed and turned in
- ALL daily school work completed and turned in
- No more than 1 refocus for the week (teacher determined)
- NO "Think Sheets" from any teachers during that week
We understand how busy evenings can become during the school year. However as a 5th grader, it is very important to reinforce and build these study skills to better prepare for the future. We appreciate your support in maintaining good homework attendance and behaviors.
